Master Development Plan of Baguio Centennial Park up for discussion

BAGUIO CITY, May 23 (PNA) — The Baguio City Council in will finally discuss the proposed Master Development Plan (MDP) for the Baguio Centennial and Botanical Park (BCBP), formerly known as the Baguio Botanical Gardens (Imelda Park), during its regular session on Monday.

On August 12, 2014, Cordelia Lacsamana, Chief of the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) forwarded the MDP to Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan for adoption, approval and basis for funding.

The same plan was endorsed by the City Mayor’s Office (CMO) to the Baguio City Council for review and recommendation.

The MDP was prepared by the Department of Engineering and Architecture Urban Planning and Research Laboratory of the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA), Saint Louis University (SLU) under the guidance of Project Coordinator Architect Maria Criselda Perez-Soriano and Architect Joseph Alabanza as the consultant.

In its initial action, the council approved Resolution 152 s 2014, requesting the CEPMO to submit to the council the detailed plans of the BCBP, which were incorporated in the MDP. CEPMO subsequently complied with the detailed plans.

The council, upon deliberation and “approved by all”, endorsed the MDP to the Council Committee on Tourism, Special Events, Parks and Playgrounds headed by Councilor Elmer Datuin.

The committee, on Monday, will recommend for the approval and adoption of the MDP of the BCBP.

The committee will further recommend that the MDP be included in the “priority projects” of Baguio City for 2015.(PNA)
