DILG set to release P7-M Performance Challenge Fund to Ilocos Norte

Posted on May 18, 2015

LAOAG CITY, May 18 (PNA) — The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is set to release Php7 million as incentive for the Ilocos Norte government on good financial housekeeping.

Tagged as Performance Challenge Fund (PCF), the DILG has a set of guidelines for Local Government Units (LGUs) in order to avail the funding.

For this year, the PCF for Ilocos Norte is meant for the continuation of the construction of the Dingras multi-purpose building locally known as Escoda Memorial Hall building located in front of the newly-landscaped Dingras town hall.

According to provincial board member Da Vinci Crisostomo in his capacity as chairperson of the committee on appropriations, the PCF fund will be used in support of the thrust of the national and local government for tourism infrastructure development.

Once completed, the project will serve as a venue for tourism-related events including the annual celebration of Escoda Day, trade fairs and may also be used as evacuation center during typhoon.

In previous years, the DILG urged LGUs eligible for the PCF to use the said amount for projects in support of the national government priority programs specifically geared towards the attainment of the millennium development goals, ecological management and disaster risk reduction management.

The DILG will also be strictly monitoring the implementation of the PCF requiring proposed projects of LGUs to be aligned to the priority programs of the national government.

The PCF is a financial assistance given by the government to qualifiers to implement projects within their respective comprehensive development plan or annual development plan.(PNA)
