Sorsogon village unveils newest tourist attraction

Posted on May 15, 2015

By Jonalyn Pronce

PILAR, Sorsogon, May 15 (PNA) — The view of racing vehicles would give one an idea that there is a new tourist attraction here.

About nine kilometers from Pilar town proper, or 30 to 45 minutes’ ride, is Barangay San Antonio, with its captivating beauty — the Pitocad.

Pitocad derived its name from “pito,” which means seven, because of the seven-foot sea level unveiling before one, which features alluring hard and soft corral reefs.

“It takes just five minutes by a motorboat before you reach the Pitocad,” said Barangay Captain Tomas Guerrero.

The place is still in the process of development by the barangay officials and tourism personnel of Pilar town.

The shimmering blue, sometimes turquoise water lights up the dreams and hopes of the residents of the barangay.

The hypnotizing sea unwraps the species living in the place.

“The Bureau of fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has visited the place and it found out that it is one of the most beautiful sceneries for tourist destination,” Guerrero said.

The place is surrounded by rich coconut trees that provide a balancing view to Pitocad.

“We are polishing this project to transform our barangay into a new tourist destination. The Pitocad will serve as a diving place if ever the tourism department will approve its as one of the attractions of Sorsogon,” the village chief added.

It will also help the barangay raise funds to introduce more developments in the area, he said.

“We are not only developing it but we also want to maintain the equilibrium of nature. This place will be the heart of beauty in our barangay,” Guerrero said.

And as the dazzling discovery satisfies one’s curiosity, the Pitocad is waiting for anyone who wants to weave good memories.(PNA)
