LEGAZPI CITY, May 14 (PNA) — The Province of Albay once again proved its excellence in various fields of endeavor after it ranked first in the collection of business tax among the six provinces of the Bicol Region.

It received the awards for best treasurer and assessor in the entire region from the Bureau of Local Government Finance.

Based on the letter of BLGF Bicol officer-in-charge Florencio Dino to Albay Governor Joey Sarte Salceda, the province was able to collect Php175.8 million compared to the Php136-million target.

Albay posted a 129-percent collection efficiency last year, clinching the number one spot on this aspect of governance in the entire region.

Dino commended the excellent performances of Provincial Treasurer Pedro Ibasco and Provincial Assessor Lilibeth Ocampo and asked them to continue their sterling performance of their job so that they could further contribute to the increase in the level of financial capabilities of the local government units.

He urged others to follow the example of the Province of Albay, which registered the biggest collection in the same year of Php490.1 million or 26 percent of the entire Bicol collection of Php1.9 billion from the six Bicol provinces.

In this connection, the province received an award from the BLGF-Bicol as the Best Performing Local Government, Treasurer and Assessor during the 2nd Quarter Regional Conference of Treasurers and Assessors in Bicol held here on May 7-8. (PNA)
