DepEd-Bacolod gets improvement materials from Local School Board for ‘Brigada Eskwela’

Posted on May 13, 2015

BACOLOD CITY, May 13 (PNA) — The Local School Board (LSB) of Bacolod turned over school improvement materials to the Department of Education (DepEd) City Schools Division here for this year’s Brigada Eskwela.

The Brigada Eskwela or “Schools Maintenance Week” is set from May 18 to 23.

There are 66 elementary and high schools under DepEd-Bacolod.

The ceremonial turn-over rites held Wednesday at the Bacolod People’s House was attended by Councilors Archie Baribar and Alex Paglumotan, chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of the committee on education of Sangguniang Panlungsod. Also present were Councilors Wilson Gamboa Jr., and Carlos Jose Lopez, and City Schools Division Superintendent Cynthia Demavivas.

Executive Assistant on Education Ramon Rydum Viva, who represented Mayor Monico Puentevella, said this is the first time the LSB has donated to Brigada Eskwela.

This is in line with mayor’s thrust for quality education, he added.

Public Schools District Supervisor Ronie Tababa, coordinator of Brigada Eskwela, who gave an overview of the program, called for unity, volunteerism and partnership among students, teachers, principals and parents as internal stakeholders and among barangay and city officials as external stakeholders.

Brigada Eskwela pushes for unhampered school operations and the promotion of a healthy working environment, he added.

For his part, Puentevella underscored the importance of education, and urged teachers, principals, and the community to work together in educating the future leaders of the city.(PNA)
