BALER, Aurora, May 11 (PNA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will hold a “Balik Eskwela Diskwento Caravan” on May 14 to 15 in this capital town of Aurora where residents could avail of discounts on school supplies and other products.
DTI provincial director Edna Dizon said the two-day caravan will offer as much as 50-percent discount on school supplies and items such as bags, uniforms and shoes and prime commodities like bread, sardines, cooking oils, processed meat, and detergent bars.
Dizon said the Diskwento Caravan is one of the banner programs of the DTI that aims to help consumers stretch their budget through price discounts offered by participating manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers.
She encouraged parents and students to avail of the discounted prices of products, particularly school supplies.
The DTI’s Diskwento Caravan started in 2008 and was envisioned to be a non-wage benefit for minimum wage earners and employees at the start of classes.
But over the years, it evolved to cater to the needs of all consumers and ease their financial burden. (PNA)
