BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, May 11 (PNA) — Despite the drought sweeping across the country, this province’s major agricultural production remained stable.
Alexander Domingo, provincial agriculturist, said the dry spell barely affected the production of farmers here because of good irrigation systems and the sustained support of the local government units in mitigating the effects of the drought.
“Compared to other provinces, we were not badly affected because of our very good irrigation systems,” he said.
LGUs, he said were able to support several farmers in sustaining the irrigation needs of farmers through the provision of water pumps and alternative planting materials that are drought – resistant.
Domingo added that the use of heavy equipment in dredging and clearing of irrigation systems paid a lot in providing water supply to affected agricultural lands. (PNA)
