COTABATO CITY, April 25 (PNA) — Thousands of civilians, peace advocates and Moro people on Saturday called on Congress to pass the draft Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
The call was aired coupled with civic programs and peace caravan in Cotabato City going to Midsayap town in North Cotabato.
It was spearheaded by Mindanao Alliance for Peace (MAP).
Raby Angcal, MPA spokesperson, said the activity was opened with a fun run on Thursday from the Cotabato City Peoples Palace to the city plaza, about 7 kilometers away.
It was followed by a clean-up drive around the city villages in observance of World Earth Day.
On Saturday morning, a motorcade attended by thousands of supporters of Mindanao peace process held a motorcade from the city to Midsayap where calls for the passage of the bill have been repeatedly aired through a public address system.
More activities are yet to be launched in the city ahead of the resumption of the deliberation of the draft law that will serve as the basis for the establishment of a new political entity in Mindanao.
It is a result of the 17-year peace process between Manila and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
Angkal believed the BBL is the key to the attainment of peace in southern Philippines. (PNA)
