MANILA, April 22 (PNA) — Delegation from Philippine Chamber of Commerce in Japan (PCCIJ) is in Manila for a four-day business mission and to strengthen its relation with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the Philippines’ largest business organization.
PCCIJ, an affiliate member of PCCI since 1976, brings 10-man delegation in the country to discuss business opportunities with the local business group.
The PCCIJ said that there were many Japanese firms looking for alternative investment area other than China. Its focus is Southeast Asia countries which include the Philippines.
The PCCIJ said the developments in the Philippines attracted the attention of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as Japanese financial institutions.
“Japanese SMEs need reliable Filipino partners for domestic market business,” the PCCIJ said.
It said that Japanese firms were also looking at investing in export-oriented zone, particularly the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
Japanese firms also see Filipino workforce as an advantage with its English-speaking capability and pool of talents in areas of nursing and care giving.
Currently, PCCIJ has 22 member-companies and eight individuals. Filipino companies in the business organization include Philippine Airlines, ABS-CBN, Philippine National Bank, Metrobank, and Ayala System Japan.
PCCIJ has become the window for investment opportunities of Japanese firms to the Philippines. (PNA)
