ILOILO CITY, April 22 (PNA) –- The city government here and the Lopez Foundation Inc. will embark on a project that will turn the side portion of the flood control project into an agri-eco tourism site.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog recently met with Gina Lopez of the foundation where a proposal to have a portion of the flood control project stretching some four kilometers be utilized for cash-crop or short term plantation was discussed.
“That is after the rainy season. We are looking at sometime September for the launching of the program,” Mabilog said.
Under the proposal, the foundation will provide the funds and publicity for the project while the city government will supply the needed manpower.
The initiative will tap the women sector for its manpower to be identified by the City Agriculturist Office (CAO).
To complement the initiative is the livelihood project that will be introduced by the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) and the food terminal that will be constructed by the Department of Agriculture (DA). (PNA)
