MANILA, April 20 (PNA) — A Malacanang executive on Monday said the govenrment recognizes the support given by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the on-going peace process.
”(OIC) Secretary General (Iyad bin Ameen) Madani and his group have expressed full support and commitment to the full fruition of the peace process and we are pleased to acknowledge this expression of support,” Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a briefing Monday.
Coloma said Madani and his group had a scheduled courtesy call on President Benigno Aquino III Monday.
He, however, declined to elaborate on the meeting saying they might issue a statement on this if they receive more questions about the details of the meeting.
Madani belongs to an eight-man team that arrived in the Philipines Friday last week for a four-day visit in the Philippines to affirm the group’s support to the peace process.
The group met with Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Secretary Teresita Quintos Deles among others last Friday.
OIC is a 57-member state organization that protects Muslim interest in the world. (PNA)
