GCash customer base up by 25%

MANILA, April 10 (PNA) — Globe Telecom Inc.’s wholly-owned subsidiary G-Xchange Inc. (GXI) that operates mobile money service GCash, has posted a 25 percent upturn in its customer base.

The telco said that GXI was able to broaden its services and reach a wider customer base to include online shoppers, retailers, and entrepreneurs due to an emergent shift to a digital economy.

GXI President and chief executive Xavier Marzan, in a statement, stressed how GCash’s innovative services paved the way for more Filipinos to experience the convenience of mobile money.

“Whether for send money services such as bills payment or remittance, to using it to shop for goods and items online, GCash has become a driving force in the industry as it continues to cater to various market segments to serve different needs,” Marzan said.

To recall, before GCash evolved into a total mobile money solution that carries a wide portfolio of payment options for its customers, it began as a regular remittance service back in 2004.

At present GCash continues to improve its existing portfolio of services and introduce groundbreaking services to extend reach to a bigger segment of customers.

In 2014, GCash launched Globe Charge, a mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) service that has equipped over 1,500 entrepreneurs and SMEs to accept credit card payments to date.

It also ventured into collaborative partnerships with American Express and MasterCard to pave the way for the mobile money service to introduce the GCash American Express® Virtual Pay, one of the most innovative payment solutions to date.

With the GCash American Express® Virtual Pay, customers can purchase digital goods and shop in international sites. The account also has a personalized US address which customers can use as their shipping address for their goods to be delivered directly in their own homes. One’s GCash American Express® Virtual Pay is also directly linked to their GCash account.

GCash has also maximized the exponential growth of financial cards as the preferred mode of payment and is also playing an important role in socio-economic development with a 60 percent increase in customer base for its GCash Payroll segment.

To date, GXI is providing both SMEs and MSMEs with a modern payroll solution that allows employers to easily disburse salaries, loans, allowances, and commissions.

Employees also get access to the rest of the GCash suite of services such as paying bills, buying load, and sending money, among others. (PNA)
