CEBU CITY, April 9 (PNA) — The Global Business Power Corporation (GBPC) is planning to build power plants in Bohol and Leyte to addres future needs of additional power supply in the Visayas area.
Engr. Peter Señeres, head of GBPC-Cebu’s Commercial Operations, said the company is still studying how much capacity the power plants will have.
“Everything is still under study,” he said.
It would take at least five years to build the plant, if ever, he said.
Seneres said Bohol and Leyte will be a priority area for power distribution in case this plan will materialize.
He said the power plants will also benefit other places like Cebu where power demand is increasing.
GBPC operates a 428 megawatt coal-fired power plant and an additional 40 megawatt diesel power plant.
GBPC’s Toledo Power Plant has put in an additional capacity of 82 megawatts in September last year.
Señeres also said the two old power plants of GBPC with a combined capacity of 60 megawatrts will be synchronized in the grid by the end of the year. (PNA)
