Aquino admin to redouble its reform efforts — Palace

Posted on April 7, 2015

By Leslie D. Venzon

MANILA, April 7 (PNA) — Malacanang on Tuesday assured that the Aquino administration will redouble its efforts in pursuing reforms geared toward improving the quality of lives of Filipinos, including those that create more job opportunities and lower prices.

Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. stressed this amid a decline in President Benigno Aquino III’s approval ratings based on the recent Social Weather Station (SWS) and Pulse Asia surveys.

“Sisikapin po at pag-iibayuhin ng Pangulo at ng Gabinete ang pag-pupunyagi para maipatupad at makumpleto ang mga reporma at pagbabagong naumpisahan na, matupad ang mga ipinangako noong siya ay kandidato para sa pagka-Pangulo at matupad din ang mga pangarap at aspirasyon ng ating mga mamamayan,” he said in a Palace briefing.

Coloma said the administration is focused on bringing public service and addressing country’s problems.

He cited the latest Pulse Asia survey indicating that Filipinos were most concerned about creating more job opportunities, increasing workers’ pay, controlling increases in prices of basic commodities and fighting corruption and criminality.

The nationwide survey was conducted last March 1-7 with 1,200 respondents.

“Napakahalaga po nitong mga usapin na ito para sa kabuhayan ng milyung-milyong Pilipino,” he added.

On the other hand, a new SWS survey conducted from March 20-23 showed that first-quarter satisfaction rating of President Aquino also declined. This has been attributed to the impact of the Mamasapano incident.

“Sinusukat ng mga mamamayan kung paano tumugon ‘yung pamahalaan at nakikita naman natin na kapag inihambing ‘yung time series na performance approval and satisfaction ratings, the ratings of President Aquino will compare favorably with that of his predecessors,” the PCOO chief added. (PNA)
