MANILA, April 7 (PNA) — Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle has submitted to Malacanang a list of five people who will help study the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
He said that the list is composed of people from the religious sector but he declined to name them.
“I was invited to submit names of people/citizens who could help study calmly and critically the BBL, so nag-submit ako ng limang pangalan at sila na ang tatawag sa kanila,” he said in an interview.
Tagle also clarified that the convenors’ group formed by President Benigno S. Aquino III is not an investigative body.
The head of the Archdiocese of Manila said that his participation in the committee includes the submission of names to help study the measure and also give inputs.
Tagle said that President Aquino did not give the committee a deadline.
Earlier, the President invited “citizen leaders” from government, business, religious and civil society sectors to scrutinize the proposed BBL.
Aside from Tagle, other prominent personalities who have been invited to join the convenors’ group are former Chief Justice Hilario Davide, businessman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, civil society leader Howard Dee, and peace advocate Bai Rohaniza Sumndad-Usman. (PNA)
