MANILA, April 5 (PNA) — Tropical depression “Chedeng,” with reduced wind strength of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, made landfall in Isabela province in Northern Luzon at mid-morning Sunday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said that as of 10 a.m., the eye of TD “Chedeng” was sighted over Palanan, Isabela (17.0°N, 122.2°E) and moving northwest at 13 kph.
It is expected to weaken into a low pressure area (LPA) within 24 hours, PAGASA said.
As this developed, public storm warning signal No. 1 (winds of 30-60 kph expected in at least 36 hours) is now hoisted over Kalinga, Isabela, Ifugao and Mountain Province.
These areas will have moderate to heavy rains with occasional gusty winds.
Storm warning signals elsewhere had been lowered.
The estimated rainfall amount is from light to moderate within the 75-km radius of the tropical depression.
Fisherfolks are advised not to venture out over the northern seaboard of Luzon and eastern seaboard of southern Luzon. (PNA)
