TF Asis starts demolition of river establishments by April 30

Posted on March 30, 2015

ILOILO CITY, March 30 (PNA) – At least three business establishments by the riverbanks of the Iloilo River were given a demolition reprieve by more than a month after city mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog prevailed the Task Force Asis to give until April 30 the three illegal structures to vacate and start the demolition.

Engr. Roberto Dumanil, Task force chief, said a meeting was conducted by the city mayor and representatives of the three illegal structures to start a joint demolition by the Task Force on Anti-squatting, and Illegal Structures.

Dumanil assured that the city mayor had told Senate President Franklin Drilon about the situation of the river- restaurant of Brgy. Capt. Jolly Penasales, the car wash and waste water treatment facility of Gaisano City to be jointly demolished in one day.

Earlier, Mabilog said that other illegal structures along the Iloilo River set for demolition were the Hartman Dialysis Center and Nena’s Manokan along the Gen Luna and Jalandoni Bridge.

The dialysis center has no license to operate by the Department of Health and its management is starting to transfer to a new site at Solis Delgado St. As soon as the DOH license is released, the dialysis center will immediately transfer to its new location.

Similarly, Mabilog said the demolition of Basil Tal abahan along the diversion road already started due to not having a business permit and locational clearance to legitimate its operation. Similarly, Wild Cat, a disco resto bar along the Muelle Loney stretch has no business permit since last year and ordered padlocked by the city.

The Department of Tourism regional office is planning to build a tourist information center at the site to be vacated by Nenas Manokan at the Iloilo River. The whole structure will be demolished and DOT will construct a new building for the information center.

The Basil Talabahan along the diversion road started its demolition for having no business permit while the Wild Cat disco bar has no business permit and just applied after more than a year of operation.(PNA)
