Calabarzon police chief prepares all units for summer activities

Posted on March 24, 2015

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, March 24 (PNA) — Police Chief Superintendent Edwin Erni, Officer–in-Charge of Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 4A, once again directed all PNP units to conduct risk assessment relative to summer vacation activities starting with the Lenten season, Philippine Veterans Week, Araw ng Kagitingan (Valor Day) Labor Day, National Flag Day and Flores de Mayo (Flowers of May).

Erni said that risk assessment is an important ingredient in the preparation of security coverage and public safety services which must resolve around the following operational concept: Police Presence, Focused Law Enforcement Operations, Target Hardening, Police Community Partnership, Information Operations and other public safety operations.

Likewise, Erni is expecting movement of people generated by major events and activities, create traffic jams, congestions along major thoroughfares, commercial centers and places of convergence. Criminals especially burglars, pickpockets/thieves, and robbers usually take advantage of the influx of people for their criminal activities.

Moreover, Erni calls for the full support and active participation of the public, accredited Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), radio groups, transportation and petroleum companies, and community-based volunteers as force multipliers in providing traffic management, road safety and vehicle roadworthiness, and community watch, making sure that the public will experience a safe, peaceful and happy summer vacation (SUMVAC) 2015.
