PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, March 23 (PNA) — The Philippine Airlines (PAL) chartered flight that brings Taiwanese tourists to this city is now on its third week.
Over the weekend, it brought 156 Taiwanese travelers again, who are mostly young professionals, businessmen, and students.
The City Information Office (CIO) in a statement obtained by the Philippine News Agency (PNA) Monday said the PAL chartered flight arrived from Taipei.
The Taiwanese nationals visited the world-famous Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR), Honda Bay Islands in Sta. Lourdes, and the six-hour away town of El Nido.
Chartered flights will continue until June, and are expected to expose the beauty of Puerto Princesa more to Taiwanese nationals.
It can be recalled that the exodus of Taiwanese visitors started in this highly-urbanized city in January this year. They flew to Puerto Princesa via Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and were given a special welcome by city tourism officials.
City Tourism Department (CTD) Aileen Amurao earlier told the PNA that the PAL flight is a huge help to their goal of increasing tourist arrivals.
The recent development in the city’s tourism industry was courtesy of Puerto Princesa and the provincial governments’ active coordination and cooperation for tourism promotion with Taiwan and the Manila Economic Cooperative Office (MECO). (PNA)
