North Cotabato villages receive infra projects from provincial gov’t

Posted on March 23, 2015

KABACAN, North Cotabato, March 23 (PNA) — Four remote villages here and in Makilala, both in North Cotabato, were beneficiaries of infrastructure projects from the provincial government.

North Cotabato Governor Emmylou Mendoza personally led the turnover rites in Barangay Kayaga, Kabacan of a multi-purpose building worth P500,000 located at the center of the village. Barangay Kayaga Chairman Bong M. Bacana received the project for his constituents.

“I am so grateful that a structure which is very useful for village officials and residents is now finally constructed here in our barangay and for this I really thank Gov. Taliño-Mendoza,” Bacana said.

After Kayaga, two more infra projects were turned over by the governor to the local officials of Barangay San Roque and Barangay Perez, Kidapawan City.

The projects consisting of a two-story multi-purpose building in Barangay San Roque worth P600,000 and for Barangay Perez, a 500-meter road concreting project worth P5 million at the center of the village and another 200-meter road rehabilitation worth P2 million that connects Perez and Barangay Balabag.

At the same time, a water system project was also handed to the local officials of Barangay Perez which will be used by hundreds of families in the area.

“It was a momentous occasion for the constituents of Barangay San Roque who have requested the project as we can now have a decent building for meetings, assemblies and other official activities,” said Simplicia Calvo, chairwoman of Barangay San Roque.

Allan Masibay, chairman of Barangay Perez, was equally thankful of the road project which according to him solves the difficulty encountered by many travelers especially the students and teachers who pass by the road every day.

He was also happy that a water system was put up in the village and can now be used by hundreds of families making them safe from possible infections or diseases.

“These are concrete projects which answer our basic needs here in the village and I thank the kind-hearted Gov. Lala for looking into our village and for providing us what the people really need,” said Masibay.

After Kabacan and Kidapawan City, the governor proceeded to Barangay Libertad and Barangay Biangan, Makilala and led the turnover of more projects – a water system/spring development project which will be the main source of clean water for many families in Libertad and a multi-purpose building worth P600,000 for Biangan.

The total cost of the water system projects in Barangay Perez, Kidapawan City and Barangay Libertad, Makilala is P500,000 the Provincial Engineering Office said.

The water system project according to Barangay Libertad Chairman Eladio C. Cac is an answered prayer for his constituents who will be assured of potable water, keeping them safe from sickness.

“Potable water to use is a primary need for us especially the children to keep them away from sickness. We would like to convey our gratitude to our beloved governor for making sure that her people are safe and in good condition,” Cac said.

On the other hand, Barangay Biangan Chairman Reynaldo Monreal said that the newly constructed building they received will be initially used as classroom for at least 28 kindergarten pupils residing in the village.

“The parents are so happy to see their children have a new place to learn. It’s so convenient and very useful, too. We will also use this for other official village activities,” he added.

A day before the turnovers of projects in Kabacan, Makilala and Kidapawan City, Gov. Taliño-Mendoza had formally handed key infrastructure and electrification projects in the Municipality of Magpet where five villages received water systems, a barangay hall and a covered court.

Congressman Jose “Ping” Tejada of the 3rd District of Cotabato, a partner of the Provincial Government of Cotabato in the advocacy of “Sebisyong Totoo” was with the governor in the turnover of project in Kabacan, which is a part of the 3rd District.

Third District Board Member Maybelle Valdevieso also joined Governor Taliño-Mendoza in handing over the project in Kayaga while Board Members Airene Claire Pagal, Noel Baynosa and Cristobal Cadungon joined her in the turnover in Kidapawan City and Makilala. (PNA)
