MANILA, March 20 (PNA) — Foreign players in the Philippine market that are supplying for construction industry are also benefitting from the booming sector.
Embassy of Malaysia Trade Office (MATRADE) Manila commissioner Nyaee Ayup said a Malaysian glass manufacturer here is optimistic over growth prospects in the Philippines with the strong construction activities in the country.
“With more infrastructure and property projects in the Philippines, we’re optimistic about the growth in Ajiya’s (Ajiya Safety Glass Sdn Bhd) order book coming from Filipino buyers,” said Ayup.
According to Ayup, Ajiya, along with other Malaysian construction suppliers, participated the Worldbex 2015 held in Pasay City last March 11-15, 2015.
“The market is good. The demand is there. We supply glasses for high rise residences, office tower and shopping malls,” Ajiya sales manager Low Yite Shung said noting that the company is also supplying to subcontractors of big property developers in the country.
“There’s the demand in the Philippine market because our glass products can be used for everything, from skyline palace, stand, walkway, staircase and skylights. The price depends on the glass-type, whether it’s regular or high performance glass,” he added.
Shung mentioned that there is also a strong growth in Cebu market.
“The Philippine market is booming. The construction is everywhere. We don’t have any agent or distributor yet, but we do supply to Cebu through some of our customers in Manila,” he said.
In 2014, total construction permits reached 121,256 which increased by 13 percent from 107,765 number of permits in 2013. (PNA)
