Posted on March 19, 2015

ZAMBOANGA CITY, March 19 (PNA) — The city government has unveiled three infrastructure projects worth close to PHP6 million in a highland barangay east of this city.

The recipient of the projects, which Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar unveiled Wednesday during the “Dia del Alcalde”, is Barangay Lapakan, 21.50 kilometers east of city hall.

The “Dia del Alcalde (Mayor’s Day)” is Salazar’s pet outreach program, which is usually being held during fiesta celebration of the host barangay.

Belen Sheila Covarrubias, City Hall information officer, said Thursday the projects that were inaugurated include two farm-to-market roads and drainage systems at Zones 4, 5 and 6 worth of PHP5,922,375.23.

Covarrubias said one of the farm-to-market roads amounted to PHP2,934,966.27 links Barangay Lapakan to Sitio Poso, Barangay Manicahan while the second is from Zone 3 to Zone 4 of Lapakan worth PHP1,988,311,17.

The drainage systems at Zones 4, 5 and 6 are worth PHP999,097.79.

Covarrubias said the three projects were implemented by private contractors and were supervised by the City Engineer’s Office.

Meanwhile, she said at least 400 individuals mostly indigents have availed of the Dia del Alcalde outreach program in Barangay Lapakan.

She said among the services rendered were medical consultations, dental services to include basic medicines and vitamins for children, farming and agri-tech demo, veterinary services, civil registrations and other services, all free of charge. (PNA)
