ILOILO CITY, March 19 (PNA) — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has allotted PHP6.5 million for the implementation of the training for work scholarship program (TWSP) this year.
TESDA Antique director El Cid H. Castillo said the budget can train almost 1,000 interested applicants to cover sectors such as tourism, social and health, agri-fishery and other key employment generators and training methodology.
Available trainings include food and beverage, cookery, bread and pastry, welding, massage therapy and hilot, automotive and agriculture if there are interested applicants.
Castillo added that the program is open to high school students who are at least 18 years old or as long as they are 18 years old when they complete the training so that they are already eligible for employment.
Training and assessment are free for this school-based program but they don’t have allowance, he added.
Castillo said that they are now accepting applications but the training has not started yet this year.
“We are waiting for the approval of our proposals from the central office,” he said.
Those who are interested to avail may go directly to the TESDA office or any accredited public or private institutions offering TESDA programs to inquire about the scholarship. (PNA)
