BACOLOD CITY, March 18 (PNA) — Negros Occidental has leased out a portion of the Capitol-owned Mambukal Resort in Murcia town to a Japanese firm for the construction of a PHP40-million two-storey nursing home and training center.
The 968-square meter area where the Governor’s Lodge is located will be demolished to pave way for the construction of the nursing home.
Marañon, representing the provincial government, and Hideaki Tanahashi of One Asia Foundation Japan signed the 25-year lease agreement Tuesday, with assistant provincial legal officer Mary Ann Manayon-Lamis and resort manager Ellen Marie Jalandoni as witnesses.
The contract, renewable every 10 years thereafter, pegs the lease at PHP100,000 a month or PHP1.2 million annually, with an escalation of five percent every five years.
The construction is estimated to take about one year, with a maximum investment of PHP40 million.
The governor said the One Asia Foundation paid the province an initial PHP1.2 million for its first-year lease, and three months advance payment.
The two-storey building will serve as a nursing home for Japanese retirees and as a training center for Negrenses who want to become caregivers in Japan.
The structure will have, among others, 10 private rooms complete with amenities, toilet and baths, kitchen, living room, garden, dipping pool, classrooms, dormitory.(PNA)
