BAGUIO CITY, March 18 (PNA) — Activities in the “Kababaihan” Festival are still on-going with some to culminate at the end of the year which are all anchored on the theme, “Juana, Desisyon mo ay Mahalaga sa Kinabukasan ng Bawat Isa, Ikaw Na!”
In an interview on Wednesday, Baguio City Councilor and Chair on the Social Services, Women and Urban Poor Committee Betty Lourdes Tabanda said an economic summit and workshop on alternative livelihood was conducted Monday afternoon at the University of the Philippines – Baguio, participated in by women in government agencies, non-government organizations, individuals and private institutions.
The Innabuyog-Gabriela, barangays and the Health Services Office (HSO) are conducting pap smear and acid wash for women at the district health services office and centers until the end of this month, as with skills training on vermi-culture in the barangays.
An ecological fair at People’s Park with the General Services Office (GSO) and Baguio Balikatan sa Kaunlaran is scheduled on March 21.
Recycled and reusable materials will be on display, where rewards will be given to the best products, Tabanda said.
On March 26, Baguio City hall plays host to the chorale, ethnic and folk dance competition, ethnic attire fashion show from 1 to 5pm, with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), KALIPI and women’s organizations as sponsors.
The CSWDO, KALIPI, Igorota Foundation are preparing other trainings on practical skills, livelihood programs and gender sensitivity for the remaining days of the “Kababaihan” Festival which may extend until December 2015, Tabanda said. (PNA)
