(USAW) Mark Munoz “Filipino Wrecking Machine” UFC 102

LOS ANGELES –(U.S. ASIAN WIRE) — August 27, 2009 — Mark Munoz, MMA’s “Filipino Wrecking Machine” returns to the Octagon this Saturday at the Rose Garden in Portland, OR for UFC 102.  This is Munoz’ second UFC bout, shortly after his debut in March, Mark publicly announced his decision to drop a weight class going from light heavyweight to middleweight. UFC 102 will be his middleweight debut, with a 5 win-2 loss record, Munoz will fight Nick Catone from New Jersey.

For the last 4 months Munoz has trained with unyielding diligence–on a strict diet, a twice-daily workout schedule, including sparring with some of the best in the industry.  In May Munoz took second place at the Abu Dhabi Grappling Championships held in Carson City, CA.

Munoz has been training at current welterweight “King of the Cage” Champion Mike Guymon’s MMA gym in Lake Forest, CA and has been seen working out at Black House, an elite training facility in southern California where UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and UFC interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira train as well.

Although Munoz’s debut performance last March ended in a loss against Mark Hamill, he stated in a recent interview with MMA Junkie, “I’m a competitor. To have an outcome like that, it hurt a lot,” said Munoz. “But adversity and even losses help build character.”

Before, during, and after his fights, fans can read the latest information about Munoz on Team Munoz, the official Mark Munoz fan site.
