BORACAY Island, Aklan, March 4 (PNA) — Both foreign and local tourists still continue to flock to this resort island despite the existence of the high coliform level recently reported by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).
Niven Maquirang, Caticlan Jetty port administrator, said that both foreign and local tourists arrivals registered a nine-percent increase of tourism arrivals and in February reached ten percent more,” said Maquirang.
Data from the Caticlan Jetty port indicates that there are 133,598 domestic and foreign tourists who arrived in January. This is much higher compared to the 122,629 tourists registered in January 2014.
In February 2015, the same office registered 130,293 tourists compared to the same month last year which was only 118,096.
“This month of March, we anticipate an only five percent increase since the holy week last year falls in the month of March. This year it falls on April,” said Maquirang.(PNA)
