402 Pangasinan mothers receive self-employment assistance

Posted on February 27, 2015

DAGUPAN CITY, Feb. 27 (PNA) — At least 402 mothers from the Fourth District of Pangasinan received financial assistance for their livelihood projects under the Self-Assistance Employment Assistance (SEA-Kaunlaran) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the initiative of Rep. Gina de Venecia.

The assistance was given coinciding with the coming Women’s Month seeks to empower mothers so that they can put up income-generating livelihood projects in their homes to boost their family’s earnings.

Under the program, at least P700,000 was given to 140 mothers in Dagupan; P400,000 to 80 mothers in Mangaldan; P300,000 to 60 mothers in San Fabian; P300,000 to 62 mothers in Manaoag; and another P300,000 to 60 mothers in San Jacinto.

De Venecia said she is happy that DSWD is conscientiously doing its part in social programs which include giving livelihood projects, bankrolling jobs like providing feeding missions in public schools and in barangay day-care centers, and in giving financial assistance in the burial of indigents and in helping in hospitalization and financing dialysis and chemotherapy treatment of patients.

De Venecia said DSWD has been working with her for the last two decades in delivering services to the people not only in the fourth district of Pangasinan but also nationwide.

DSWD has been my partner in putting up four national charitable institutions, as then president of the Congressional Spouses Foundation Inc.

These include The Haven for Women, with 15 regional centers that are helping abused and battered women, The Haven for Children with four regional centers, for children and victims of substance abuse; The Haven for the Elderly, for senior citizens abandoned by their families and the INA Healing Center which are helping those sorrowing for the loss of their children.
