CARMONA, Cavite City, Feb. 26 (PNA) — BEMAC Electric Transportation Philippines, Inc. will increase production of its e-vehicles (EVs) at its Carmona, Cavite plant, from 500 to 1,000 units a month due to strong demand for EVs starting July this year, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Calabarzon Information Officer.
In a press statement released Thursday, Undersecretary Prudencio M. Reyes Jr. of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said that boosting production of electric vehicles supports APEC’s “Green Growth advocacy toward an energy efficient, sustainable and low-carbon transport future” by building practical and cost-effective Filipino-made E-vehicles.
Reyes expressed optimism that the EVs have strong potentials to replace conventional tricycles whose emissions are detrimental to air quality.
DTI will definitely support the project as it made the Philippines an e-vehicle hub in Asia, Reyes said.
