DTI awards seal of excellence to Toyota in Tagum City

Posted on February 25, 2015

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, Feb. 25 (PNA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) here has awarded Toyota Tagum with a Gold Bagwis Seal of Excellence Award.

DTI-Davao del Norte Officer-in-Charge Romeo L. Castanaga said the citation was given to Toyota Tagum, an accredited five-star service and repair shop, for its excellent performance in terms of compliance to fair trade laws, corporate social responsibility undertaking, and alignment to ISO 9001 standards.

“This is DTI’s way of recognizing those establishments which have really been exemplary based on the parameters that we have set for the award,” he said.

The DTI Bagwis Program awards seals to various establishments. It aims to give due recognition to the entrepreneurs that uphold the rights of consumers and practice responsible business where consumers get value for money.

All retail establishments, supermarkets, department/specialty stores, and DTI-accredited service and repair shops are evaluated for this award.

Formerly known as DTI – Certified Establishment (CE) program, the award has three categories: gold, silver and bronze. Various parameters are used to evaluate the establishment’s qualification for each specific category.

For bronze, compliance with fair trade laws such as consumer act, consumer welfare desk, price act and price tag law are measured. Silver seal recipients are in additional required corporate social responsibilities such as sound purchasing policy and participation to government programs among others.

Apart from the above-mentioned criteria, Gold Bagwis awardees must meet the additional requirement of compliance to ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

To date, DTI-Davao del Norte has already awarded a total of 31 Bagwis Seal to various business firms in the province since 2007. This consists of 4 bronze, 21 silver awards and the rest are gold.

DTI continues to encourage business establishments to be accredited with Bagwis Seal of Excellence. (PNA)
