54-MW wind farm connects to Meralco’s transmission line

Posted on February 24, 2015

MANILA, Feb. 24 (PNA) — Alternergy Wind One Corp’s 54-Megawatt (MW) wind farm has successfully connected to Manila Electric Company’s (Meralco’s) transmission line.

”Last week, the Pililla wind farm successfully interconnected with Meralco’s 115-kv Malaya-Caliraya-Kalayaan transmission line,” the company said in a statement Tuesday.

It noted it was the most feasible among its choices on passing off power to the grid.

The interconnection also avoided grid constraints and congestion to the power supply in Luzon, according to Alternergy.

Meanwhile, the wind-energy company mentioned the 54-MW Wind Farm in Pililla, Rizal will also be offered as a new destination to tourists.

The Alternergy Wind One Corp. project was built in Barangay Halayhayin on the Northern hills of Pililla, which also gives a view to the Laguna Lake.

It was backed by the Rizal Provincial government and the Municipality of Pililla.

Alternergy Wind One secured financing for the project from a syndicate of local commercial banks led by Banco de Oro, China Bank and Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation, amounting to US$ 100 million.

Alternergy Wind One Corporation generates electricity through renewable sources of energy, developing and operating wind farms in Singapore and the Philippines. It is led by former Energy Secretary Vince Perez. (PNA)
