CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, Feb. 19 (PNA) — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) chief here had introduced paperless transaction during the issuance of business permits and licenses.
This innovation reduced the issuance of fire clearance to within five minutes as explained by Chief Fire Marshall Senior Inspector Edwin P. Vargas in an interview Thursday.
”We have reduced the transaction with our office (BFP) to within five minutes by dedicating an encoder even if the applicants do not bring any business papers to show. By stating the business name and address, we will know the status of the establishment under our records,” said Vargas.
This online paperless transaction was introduced by the city Chief Fire Marshall in January this year and had been proven effective in reducing the number of people queuing for fire clearances while increasing the revenue.
”We introduced this paperless or online transaction in January 2015 and proved to be effective. We also increased the collection from Php 3.6 Million in 2014 to Php 3.9 Million in 2015 for the same period (January),” Vargas said.
Moreover, the chief fire marshal said that seven fire-substations will be rehabilitated, of which right now, only one is operational.
”We will rehabilitate seven fire sub-stations at strategic places. We have discussed the plan with Mayor Justin Chipeco which they will be ready to respond in cases of fire incidents,” Vargas said. “And also in cases of disaster, we have rescue equipments ready.” (PNA)
