Masskara Festival represents PHL in Hong Kong Chinese New Year 2015

Posted on February 14, 2015

ILOILO CITY, Feb.14 (PNA)- Colorful costumes and warm wide smiles will brighten up the streets of Hong Kong in winter as the dazzling and lively MassKara Festival of Bacolod City performs in the celebration of the Chinese New Year on Feb. 17-22, 2015 upon the invitation of Hong Kong Tourism Board under the sponsorship of the Philippine Tourism Promotions Board, Department of Tourism (DOT) Region VI and the city government of Bacolod.

DOT Region VI Regional Director Atty. Helen J. Catalbas will lead the group of 60 performers from the MassKara Festival 2014 champion and few local government unit officials headed by Bacolod City Mayor Monico O. Puentevella in this trip to Hong Kong.

“MassKara Festival will not only bring Bacolod City in this trip to Hong Kong for the Chinese New Year 2015 but the whole region of Western Visayas and the Philippines. This invitation only signifies that festivals in the region truly capture and entice the hearts of local and international visitors,” Director Catalbas said.

The MassKara Festival was chosen amongst the other festivals in the country because of its colorful costume and happy masks.

Cebu Pacific will be the official carrier of the MassKara delegates from Iloilo to Hong Kong and back through its direct international flights.

“Once again we will show the world why it’s a must to experience Western Visayas first. This momentous occasion is the success of all the Western Visayans because they have been the greatest promoter of this region,” Catalbas said.
