TACLOBAN CITY, Feb. 8 (PNA) — Secretary Francisco Pangilinan of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Food Security and Agricultural Modernization will visit this city on Monday for a market inspection and lead a Yolanda task force meeting.
Pangilinan, a former senator, will visit the Tacloban public market early in the morning to check the availability of NFA (National Food Authority) rice in the local market.
He will be accompanied by NFA Administrator Renan Dalisay during the market visit.
After the inspection, Pangilinan will lead the Yolanda task force meeting at the Leyte Park Hotel to be attended by governors in Eastern Visayas including Gov. Leopoldo Dominico Petilla of Leyte, Gov. Rogelio Espina of Biliran, Gov. Sharee Ann Tan of Samar, and Gov. Conrado Nicart of Eastern Samar.
Philippine Coconut Authority Administrator Romulo Arancon will join Pangilinan in the meeting.
The visit of the secretary will be his second time after assuming office. Last year, Pangilinan led the provincial coconut industry roadmap consultation, visited the PCA and NFA offices and several livelihood projects in Javier, Leyte.
Pangilinan’s office oversees four agencies – NFA, PCA, National Irrigation Administration, and Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority. He assume office on May 5, 2014 through Memorandum No. 70 signed by President Benigno S. C. Aquino III. (PNA)
