BPI supports OWWA in recognizing 2009 Model OFW Families

Posted on August 7, 2009

The Bank of the Philippine Islands has pledged its support to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in its efforts to acknowledge Overseas Filipinos through the Model OFW Family of the Year Award (MOFYA). BPI will be one of the major sponsors in this year’s MOFYA.

For the fifth year and running, MOFYA honors outstanding OFW families who have demonstrated best practices in achieving success in their respective professions as well as in maintaining strong family relations even in the face of overseas migration of one or more members of the household. The Award also seeks to recognize families who have made a positive impact in their community.

“BPI has consistently showed its strong thrust in empowering our Overseas Filipinos not only in showing support for awards such as the MOFYA but also through our own Expat PInoy Program,” says Teresita Tan, Senior Vice President and Group Head for Overseas Banking and Channel Services Group.

In addition to its support for the MOFYA, BPI lifts up the Overseas Filipino through its specifically designed programs such as the BPInoy Learning Programs, the Search for Ten Outstanding Expat Pinoy Children, and the BPInoy Awards.

The nominations for the MOFYA regional search is now open until August 15, 2009. Thirty-four regional land-based and sea-based winners will be selected from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. From among the regional awardees, two national winners, one land-based and one sea-based will be chosen.

Any religious groups, people’s organization, NGOs, community-based associations and local government units may nominate families for the MOFYA. The nominating party must submit the required forms to any OWWA Regional Welfare Office (RWO).
