KIDAPAWAN CITY, Jan. 27 (PNA) — Mayor Joseph Evangelista will sign a sisterhood agreement with the Vinh Yen City of Ving Phuc Province of Vietnam, the city mayor’s office announced Tuesday.
Evangelista said the two cities will cooperate and share in the promotion of tourism, education, culture and arts, environmental protection sports and other that will benefits residents of sister cities.
The sisterhood agreement is a result of the recent visit of Evangelista to the International Urban Training Center in South Korea.
He was invited by the local government executives of Vinh Yen who were his classmates to visit Vietnam and forge a sisterhood agreement, which Evangelista readily accepted.
On Monday, Evangelista and several local executives of Kidapawan flew to Vietnam for the visit and to invite Vietnamese tourists to this city.
Evangelista will first visit the tourist destinations of Vietnam and the province of Ving Phuc for exchange information that will also help the development of tourism in the city and in North Cotabato.
Among the programs the city mayor is expected to share with the Vietnamese officials is the good governance practice of Kidapawan City.
The city government here is set to send teachers and other skilled workers to Vietnam’s Vinh Yen City as part of their partnership in helping promote education, agriculture, arts and culture, and tourism.
Evangelista said Vinh Yen officials are expected to visit Kidapawan City this March to formalize the cooperation between them through signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Vinh Yen City is the capital of Vinh Phuc province, which is 40 minutes away from Hanoi, Vietnam. (PNA)
