MANILA, Jan. 27 (PNA) — The Supreme Court (SC) approved on Tuesday to move the 2015 Bar examinations from October to November 2015 following the Philippine Association of Law Schools’ recommendation and the academic calendar shift for most law schools and its effect on the examinees’ review period.
Bar Confidant Atty. Cristina B. Layusa, who endorsed the recommendation, said that the venue will be announced later.
This year’s Bar exams, the 114th to be conducted in the country, will be chaired by Associate Justice Teresita J. Leonardo-de Castro.
The Bar examinations, to take place over four Sundays of November (8, 15, 22, and 29), require examinees to answer in long hand. The first Sunday of November this year is a holiday, being All Saints’ Day.
In 2011, the Bar exams were held in November when then Bar Chair Associate Justice Roberto Abad moved the date from September to avoid the rainy season.
However, the following year, the exams were moved from November to October.
In 2013, the Bar exams were again held in October.
Likewise, the 2014 Bar examinations, chaired by Associate Justice Diosdado M. Peralta, were held in the four Sundays of October.
It consisted of 20% multiple choice questions and 80% essay-type questions taken by 5,994 examinees out of the 6,344 admitted applicants.
It is regarded as the most prestigious professional licensure examination in the country due to its difficulty. (PNA)
