City dads to tackle CDO Comprehensive Land Use Plan

Posted on January 26, 2015

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan. 26 (PNA) — The city’s nine -year Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) would be one of the issues to be raised during the city council’s regular session on Monday, City Councilor Alexander Dacer said.

Dacer, chair of the city council committee on the Landed Estate, and Subdivision, said that the 2013-2022 CLUP was prepared by the city government with the technical assistance from the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB).

He said that the preparation of the CLUP was in compliance with Republic Act 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991, designed to serve as a guide for the physical development of the city as one of the port capitals and trading hubs in Southern Philippines.

Dacer said that the CLUP includes the development of urban centers: West Urban Development, West-Uptown Urban Development, East-Uptown Urban Development Area, Eastern Urban Development and Downtown Development Area.

Major projects and programs proposed under the CLUP include waste water treatment in the urban centers, establishment of a commercial strip along Western Coastal Highway, preservation and expansion of wetlands in Bulua, Bonbon and Bayabas, retention/detention basins, provision of multi-purpose and socio-economic centers such as reading centers, parks and the like at the West Uptown area, natural sites and heritage development, pedestrian network development, transport master plan, drainage system master plan, urban greening program, and solid waste management plan, and reforestation program.
