Bongbong: Drop politics; wish peace, comfort for Cory

Posted on August 1, 2009

PHILIPPINES NEWS SERVICE — THE Marcos family yesterday joined the Filipino nation in praying for the recovery of former President Corazon Aquino as it appealed to the public not to politicize the matter.

The statement was issued through Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who stressed that prayers will help ease the agony of members of the Aquino family.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Aquino and her family in this difficult moment. I know how her family feels because we also went through the same experience with my father,” said the young Marcos, referring to his father, the late President Ferdinand Marcos.

“Let’s drop politics on this one and just wish for the former president peace in her heart and comfort in her pains. We believe in the power of prayers and that God serves as our best weapon against problems, trials and difficulties in life,” he added.

Also yesterday, the House of Representatives held a Healing Mass for Mrs. Aquino.

The Mass officiated by Fr. Felix dela Cruz, began around 3 p.m. at the North Wing lobby of the Batasan Complex.

The Mass was well-attended by congressional employees and members of the institution like Deputy Speaker for Visayas and Cebu Rep. Raul del Mar, Cavite Rep. Elpidio Barzaga, Cavite Rep. Jesus Crispin Remulla and Manila Rep. Amado Bagatsing.

Del Mar assured the Aquino family that they continue to pray and hope a miracle will happen for the recovery of Mrs. Aquino, who is battling a stage4 colon cancer.

“We will continue to offer our prayers for President Cory,” said Del Mar.

“President Cory made the Filipinos very, very, very proud,” said Bagatsing.

The leadership also presented a slide show on the pictures of Mrs. Aquino and displayed messages of support from various individuals and yellow ribbons were scattered.
