DUMAGUETE CITY, Jan. 21 (PNA) – The local government unit (LGU) of Dumaguete City has announced that most of the real properties in this Negros Oriental capital have appreciated in value due to the implementation of the General Revision of all real properties.
Cristina Merced, In Charge of Office-City Treasurer, said the assessment of most of the real properties in Dumaguete has increased and consequently, a corresponding property tax increase will also take effect in CY 2015.
In this connection, real property owners who have paid in advance their taxes are advised to visit the City Treasurer’s Office to settle and/or pay the remaining taxes (tax difference) of their properties.
Those who will pay the tax difference this month (January 2015) can still avail of the 15 percent discount, according to Merced.
Any payment made starting in February 2015 may avail only of the ten percent discount while a five percent discount is given for those who will pay their real property taxes in March.
Also, the City Treasurer’s Office advised the public to visit first the City Assessor’s Office of Dumaguete City to secure the new Tax Declarations of their respective properties before proceeding to the City Treasurer’s Office. (PNA)
