BALANGA CITY, Bataan, Jan. 16 (PNA) — Thousands of residents watched Thursday afternoon the arrival of Pope Francis in the live coverage of GMA 7 on a giant television screen installed at the Plaza Mayor here.
The big crowd filled the city plaza and spaces near high-rise commercial buildings surrounding the plaza fronting the Balanga City hall.
They were all smiles and many aimed cellphone cameras when the Holy Father appeared somewhat restless peeping through a glass window of the plane at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.
All eyes were focused on the pontiff when he was about to disembark from the aircraft.
At this juncture, church bells from the nearby St. Joseph Cathedral started ringing.
Big welcome streamers for Pope Francis could be seen at the city plaza fronting the church and other areas.
The city government of Balanga headed by Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III installed the TV screen. (PNA)
