MANILA, Jan. 16 (PNA) — For security reasons, cellular phone signals of telecommunication companies (telcos) are jammed during the state and pontifical visit of Pope Francis to the Philippines on Jan. 15-19, 2015.
”We apologize for the temporary interruption of mobile phone services last night (Thursday) which was ordered by government authorities in the interest of public safety,” a text message sent on Friday morning by Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) said.
”Please bear with us if similar situations occur in the next few days during the Papal Visit. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” it added.
It can be recalled that during the Feast of the Black Nazarene on Jan. 9, 2013 cellphone signals were also jammed due to security reasons.(PNA)
