Vibal Publishing launches book on Islam

Posted on January 30, 2007

Vibal Publishing, Inc. was launched last January 26, the book entitled Tunggal Hulah-Duwa Sarah: Adat and Sharee’ah Laws in the Life of the Tausug authored by the Dean of the University of the Philippines Institute of Islamic Studies Dr. Hadji Mashur Bin-Ghalib Jundam.

The launch was held at the Bulwagang Sala’am, Romulo Hall Building at UP Diliman. A roundtable discussion on “The Middle East Conflict, The War on Terror and The Mindanao Problem” was presented by the UP Institute of Islamic Studies and the Philippine Council for Islam and Democracy preceded the event from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Tunggal Hulah-Duwa Sarah: Adat and Sharee’ah Laws in the Life of the Tausug is the newest reference published by VIBAL. It is a timely and pioneering work that discusses in great detail Islamic laws and tenets in various areas of family and community life. Educating non-Muslims about Islam, the book highlights the inclusion of Islamic values in the school curriculum in line with DepEd Order No. 51 s. 2004 (The Standard Curriculum for Elementary Public Schools and Private Madaris), which stresses Madrasah education as a vital component of the country’s educational system.

The book will be available at leading book stores nationwide. Other books on sale include VIBAL’s Ciudad Murada, the 2006 National Book Awards winner for Travel Literature, Fábian dela Rosa and His Times and Premio Zobel, both published by Filipiniana.net, a division of Vibal Publishing House, Inc.
