DUMAGUETE CITY, Jan. 13 (PNA) -– Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo has assured that his administration will do its best to source funds to be able to provide public transportation to all villages in the province, especially the remote and hinterland localities.
The governor gave the assurance Monday as he formally handed over four multi-cabs to the barangays of Tanglad in Manjuyod, Banban in Mabinay, Cabugan in Bindoy and Nagbalaye in Sta. Catalina.
Degamo turned over the keys to barangay officials following a simple blessing and turnover ceremony in front of the Capitol on Monday.
According to the governor, the multi-cabs will provide transportation services to residents in far-flung barangays, especially the poor and during emergencies, such as having to bring a patient to the hospital.
According to Degamo, his administration has already furnished other barangays previously with similar vehicles.
He promised to give to the other barangays when funds are available as this is one of the more important areas to be given priority, considering that there are many barangays that do not have regular transportation.
Degamo appealed to the barangay officials to take care of the vehicles as he stressed that everyone shall be served, regardless of political affiliation. (PNA)
