MANILA, Jan. 12 (PNA) — Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista vowed to institute more reforms and continue improving programs that will move the city forward and facilitate its integration in the international market this year.
Bautista said his administration would give preference to the development of small-medium enterprises in the city to spur growth and progress.
He was confident that his administration would be able to support the development of SMEs in the city with the creation of the QC Development Authority (QCDA) and approval of the local Public-Private-Partnership Code,
Bautista also announced the approval of the city’s Incentive Code, Zoning Ordinance and Land Use Plan as vital in the city government’s effort to promote economic development.
“What the city will be doing is take a grasp of the international market,” he said.
Bautista said his administration would continue to remain aggressive in its tax collection effort to be able to finance the various requirements for governance and growth of the city.
He has approved three major tax measures designed to improve the city’s tax collection efficiency. Chief among which is the ordinance granting relief to real property taxpayers who have incurred more than five years of delinquent real property taxes.
With the approval of the ordinance, the Quezon City stands to collect more than one billion peso in back taxes from those who will avail of the city’s tax relief program.
In 2014, QC collected Php 15.53 billion in gross revenues, indicating that the city continued to be one of the best managed local government units in the country.
Given the more than Php 1 billion collectibles and the city’s regular collection, the Mayor was optimistic that the city government would be able to collect more than Php 16 billion by the end of 2015.
Based on the Dec. 31, 2014 collection report submitted by the treasury, QC posted a budget surplus of Php 96 million in 2014.(PNA)
