CEBU CITY, Jan. 8 (PNA) — Some P1.6 billion worth of projects will be implemented in Cebu City this year by at least four national government agencies.
Engr. Nonato Paylado, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 7 officer-in-charge for planning and sanitation, told the Cebu City Council said that some P1.4 billion worth of projects will be implemented in the city this year.
Projects include the repair and rehabilitation of national roads in the city, concreting other roads with improvement on the drainage system, and maintenance of other infrastructure in the city.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 has allocated P105 million for its programs in the city.
Some P91 million is allocated for beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps in the city and P1.4 million for the monthly social pension of its “poorest of the poor” senior citizens.
More than P16 million was set aside to fund DSWD’s supplementary feeding program that will feed some 10,000 day care students in the city within 120 school days this year.
Anthony Arsenal of DSWD 7 said six projects for the city were also funded by DSWD this year.
These include the construction of the P3-million economic livelihood center and therapeutic simulation center, and the purchase of welding and cutting equipment, all intended for persons with disabilities.
DSWD will also provide funds for the fish culture project initiated by senior citizens and livelihood for the women.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) 7 allocated P4.5 million to provide seedlings to farmers and implement organic farming systems. among others.
The Department of Interior and Local Government, meanwhile, has allocated some P3.3 million to construct portable, collapsible cubicles for evacuation centers and water systems in mountain sitios in Barangay Quiot.
The council called the four agencies in an executive session to shed light on the budget intended for the city to avoid duplication of funds for a certain program or project. (PNA)
