Boracay welcomes add’l direct flights for the holidays

Posted on December 11, 2014

ILOILO CITY, Dec. 11 (PNA) — The Island of Boracay is getting more accessible as Cebu Pacific launched seat sale on its thrice weekly direct services from Hong Kong to Kalibo, Aklan, the international gateway to the world’s 24/7 island.

Passengers from Hong Kong can book Php699 seats to Kalibo until December 5, 2014 or until seats last. The travel period will be from February 19 to March 28, 2015.

Cebu Pacific Vice President for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog said they are excited to offer Hong Kong tourists Cebu Pacific’s trademark lowest fares and convenient access to the island of Boracay just in time for the Chinese New Year.

“The island is perfect for those looking for a fun and relaxing gateway. We encourage guests to book their flights in advance to get the best travel deals,” Ms. Iyog said.

Philippine Airlines also began to service 10 flights daily to Caticlan on December 4. From their 61 flights weekly, PAL increased to 70 domestic flights in order to cater to more tourists going to Boracay this Christmas season.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region VI Regional Director Atty. Helen J. Catalbas is optimistic that these flights are just an introduction to more international flights in the future.

“I am convinced that time will come that additional flights are not only for the holidays. We make sure that our airports are ready to cater to more visitors when that time comes”, Director Catalbas said.

Western Visayas welcomed several additional flights recently as Cebu Pacific added flights to the Iloilo hub routes, and Tiger Air Philippines had also launched its twice-daily round trip flights from Roxas City to Manila. (PNA)
