ILOILO CITY, Dec. 11 (PNA) — Four public elementary schools and two barangays hosting the housing resettlement sites of the city’s thousands of informal settlers will be recipients of the Dinagyang food aid program for school children and Dinagyang medical mission respectively as an important activity of the Iloilo Dinagyang Festival slated in January 2015.
Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) chairman Ramon Cua Locsin said the activity is sponsored by the foundation, Iloilo Red Cross, Rotary Club of Metro Iloilo and the Dr. Rene and Daisy Lim Foundation as their corporate social responsibility (CSR) to help the community especially during the Dinagyang Festival celebration.
The public school beneficiaries of the food aid program are A. Mirasol Elementary School in Mandurriao district slated on January 6, 2015; Hibao-an Elementary School in Mandurriao on January 8, 2015; Sto. Nino Sur Elementary School in Arevalo district on January 13, 2015 and Rizal Elementary School in the city proper on January 15, 2015.
The medical mission will be conducted by the same group in Barangay Sooc, Arevalo for residents of the resettlement area on January 10, 2015 and at Barangay Lanit, Jaro district on January 17, 2015.
Cua Locsin said the food aid program and medical mission were major features of the Dinagyang festival in the past several years. The sponsors decided to hold the activities annually.(PNA)
