BRUSSELS, Dec. 10 (PNA/Xinhua) — A fifth of enterprises used cloud computing services in the European Union (EU) in 2014, according to data released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU on Tuesday.
Enterprises from the information and communication sector used cloud computing services the most, followed by sectors involving professional, scientific and technical activities, according to Eurostat.
Enterprises relied on cloud solutions mainly for e-mail services and for file storage. Enterprises using cloud services reported that the risk of a security breach was the main factor limiting more use of the cloud.
Insufficient knowledge of cloud computing was the main factor blocking enterprises in the EU not yet using cloud services, said Eurostat.
Among its 28 member states, the highest shares of enterprises using cloud computing services were observed in Finland, Italy, Sweden and Denmark.
On the other hand, enterprises using the least cloud computing services were found in Romania, Latvia, Poland, Bulgaria, Greece and Hungary. (PNA/Xinhua)
