Resource Center on Governance set up in Isabela

Posted on December 2, 2014

CITY OF ILAGAN, Dec. 2 (PNA) — Isabeleños need not go any farther in search for information on governance.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial office and provincial government of Isabela have established a joint project in Isabela Resource Center on Governance (IRCG) that will help address the information needs of the people from all walks of life on Administrative Governance, Social Governance, Economic Governance and Environmental Governance.

DILG Isabela provincial director Elpidio A. Durwin said the IRCG would serve as the provincial counterpart of the Local Governance Resource Center, a project established at the national and regional levels by the Local Government Academy, the training arm of the DILG.

Housed at the Queen Isabela Park, Capitol Compound, Alibagu in this city, the center takes the form of a functional physical and virtual facility similar to a library. It serves as a repository for all knowledge products on governance that may be created and shared by partner agencies and organizations that promote and advocate excellence in governance.

Further, this spacious center is also designed to host an array of printed and digital copies of best practices on governance that provincial, city, municipal and barangay governments may produce and be opened for replication by other LGUs in the country.

Durwin expressed his optimism that the center, which when fully staffed and equipped, will evolve into one that assists LGUs to do researches and to document other notable governance practices worthy of emulation. (PNA)
